1. Will my insurance cover our sessions?
We work with all PPO insurance plans as out-of-network providers, which means you might be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company! Here’s how it works: you pay our full session fee upfront, and we provide you with a detailed receipt (called a “superbill”) at the start of each month. You can then submit this superbill directly to your insurance and, if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, get reimbursed for a portion of your therapy costs.
Curious about your exact coverage?
Finding out what your insurance will cover is easy. Use our insurance checker (powered by Mentaya) to verify your benefits instantly; just enter your insurance details below and you’ll see a clear explanation of what’s covered, so there are no surprises.
2. What does therapy cost, and is there a sliding scale?
We know that cost is an important part of starting therapy. Each of our clinicians sets their own rate based on their training, experience, and the services they offer. Many also have reduced-fee or sliding scale spots available. If you have questions about payment options or want to see if a sliding scale might be right for you, just let us know during your consultation call. Our goal is to help you connect with a therapist who feels like the right fit, and cost is definitely part of finding that fit.
If you are seeking therapy because you were the victim of a crime in California, such as stalking or sexual assault, and you have a police report number, you may qualify for financial assistance through CalVCB. To learn more about how compensation works and to apply, click here.
3. How do I find the right therapist for my needs?
Picking a therapist is personal, and finding the best fit matters, a lot! Here’s how to do it:
Get support with matching: Not sure who’s right for you? Our intake coordinator (info@togethernesstherapy.com) knows our therapists inside and out and specializes in making thoughtful matches. Share your goals, preferences, or any unique needs, and we’ll help you connect with the right counselor or sex therapist for you.
Browse our therapists: Read bios, specialties, and approaches. If someone clicks with you, reach out for a free consultation call; our team is happy to answer your questions so you get a feel for what working together might be like.
4. Is therapy available online or in person?
Yes and yes! We offer both in-person therapy at our offices in West Los Angeles and Irvine, Orange County, as well as online therapy. You can choose whichever option fits your schedule and comfort level. Some people appreciate the convenience of virtual sessions, while others prefer coming in for face-to-face time. You get the same high-quality support and expertise from our team, whichever option you choose.
5. Is there any sexual contact in sex therapy?
No, sex therapy never includes any kind of sexual activity in sessions. All work happens through conversation focused on topics like sexual health, relationships, and intimacy. You will never be asked to do anything sexual in therapy. You will never be pressured or expected to have any kind of sex you do not want to have. In fact, you are strongly encouraged not to have any sex that is unwanted or unhelpful for you.
Sex therapy is all about having honest conversations, finding answers to your questions, and learning skills and strategies to help with your unique goals. There is nothing “hands-on” in sessions; just talk, support, and real guidance.

6. What happens if I need to cancel my therapy session?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, or miss your session, you will be charged the full session fee. This policy helps us make the best use of everyone’s time and keeps things running smoothly for all of our clients.
If you are scheduled for an in-person session but are feeling sick or unable to come to the office, please let us know. Whenever possible, we are happy to switch your appointment to a virtual session so you can keep your spot and continue your care from home.
Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our community healthy and supported.
